Dyslexia Program at Athens Bible School

Athens Bible School is deeply committed to providing top‑notch reading therapy and instruction for students with a diagnosis of dyslexia.
What Sets Us Apart
The Dyslexia Support Program at Athens Bible School is a thoughtfully integrated part of our academic and spiritual mission. We are committed to offering an encouraging and empowering learning experience rooted in excellence and care. Here’s what makes our program special:
Expert-Led Instruction
The program is led by Mrs. Kerry Cox, a certified educator with Associate Level accreditation from the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE). She is actively pursuing Certified Level status, continuing her growth as a leader in the field of dyslexia education.
Decades of Teaching Experience
With 28 years in the classroom—including multiple grades and settings—Mrs. Cox brings a wealth of instructional knowledge and a passion for helping children learn and succeed.
Support That Fits Seamlessly Into the School Day
Instruction is thoughtfully scheduled within the regular school day on our ABS campus, making it easy for students to receive support without missing out on Bible classes, chapel, extracurriculars, or peer interaction.
Faith-Based Encouragement
Students receive more than just academic support—they are uplifted in an environment that reflects the love of Christ. Our approach strengthens both skills and self-worth.
For students with a formal dyslexia diagnosis, Mrs. Cox is qualified to assign subject-area grades when appropriate, supporting a well-rounded and meaningful academic experience.
Why It Matters
Students with dyslexia often face unique challenges with reading and written expression. Our program’s dedicated, research-backed methodology equips these learners with the foundational skills they need—and empowers them to succeed academically and beyond.
Our Goal
We aim to help students with dyslexia reach their full potential—academically, spiritually, and emotionally. Through early identification and strategic, individualized instruction, our program empowers students to overcome reading challenges and become confident learners.
Mrs. Cox is also authorized to assign subject-area grades for students with a formal dyslexia diagnosis when appropriate, providing flexibility and academic accountability within the program.
Partnering with Parents
We believe that a child’s progress is maximized when school and home work together. Parents are kept informed through regular communication and encouraged to actively participate in their child’s learning journey. Together, we build a support system that uplifts, equips, and encourages each student.
Join a Program That Truly Cares
At Athens Bible School, we recognize the unique gifts and challenges of each child. Through nurturing instruction grounded in proven strategies, our Dyslexia Program offers not just support—but a place to thrive spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally.
