Athens Bible School Chromebook Technology Program
At Athens Bible School (ABS), we believe in combining technology with Christian values to enhance learning and cultivate responsible digital citizenship. Here’s a breakdown of our Chromebook program and how it supports our students in grades 5 through 12.
Device & Ownership
Chromebook Distribution
Students in grades 5–12 participate in our Google Chromebook Technology Program. Chromebooks are purchased by the student, and while the device belongs to the student, ABS retains ownership of the management software used to administer and monitor its use for school purposes.
Acceptable Use
Academic Use Only
Chromebooks are intended for school-related activities only. They must be used respectfully and appropriately—concealed, handled carefully, and carried in a manner that reflects integrity.
Monitoring and Return Policy
The ABS IT Department maintains control over apps, software, and data for school use. Chromebooks must be returned in good working condition if a student leaves ABS before the end of the school year.
Communication & Collaboration
ABS Email & Google Classroom
Starting in 5th grade, each student receives an official ABS email address and access to Google Classroom for school communication and assignments. Use of these tools should be strictly for academic purposes—derogatory or inappropriate messages, spam, chain letters, and unauthorized account access are not allowed.
Conduct & Restrictions
Technology Restrictions During School Hours
Use of Chromebooks for chatting, calling, or texting during school hours (8:00 AM – 3:00 PM) is prohibited unless expressly approved by faculty or administration. Parents should contact the office if they need to reach their child during class hours.
Audio/Video Use
Students must keep audio off unless needed for class. Personal headphones are required. Watching videos without permission is not allowed during school hours.
