Athens Bible School was founded in 1943 by Christians dedicated to providing young people with a solid education centered on God’s Word. The school began modestly, meeting in a church building in downtown Athens with grades 1–9. By 1949, ABS had added a high school program, and the first senior class graduated in 1951. Continued growth led to the construction of a permanent campus on U.S. Highway 31 in 1959, where generations of students studied, worshiped, and built lifelong friendships. Over the years, the school expanded its facilities to include elementary and high school classrooms, a gymnasium, athletic fields, and programs that enriched both academics and extracurricular opportunities. In 2021, Athens Bible School entered an exciting new chapter with the move to a beautiful new campus on U.S. Highway 31, designed to support both current and future students with well-equipped classrooms and facilities. Throughout its history, ABS has remained true to its mission of “educating for time and eternity,” producing graduates who continue to serve in their churches, communities, and professions around the world.
