ABS Serving Others
During this Holiday Season the Sixth Grade decided that instead of exchanging gifts with each other, they would bring gifts to share with children who are not as fortunate as themselves.

They also made ornaments to give to Hospice patients and visited a local nursing home (on a Saturday) and sang and presented each resident a carnation.

Tracy Sherrill, a graduate of Athens State University and a Licensed Social Worker with the Department of Human Resources, visited with the First and Second grades and talked with them about less fortunate children who have been helped by her organization. Some of the ten years with DHR were spent as supervisor for Foster Care. Now she serves as a supervisor over Intake and Investigations. During her visit she explained what foster care and adoption are all about.

First and Second grades have been busy collecting stuffed toys to donate in order for DHR to give them to the children that they help.
