  Some clever turkeys asked for some help from the Second graders at ABS to disguise themselves in order to avoid being served on the Thanksgiving table this holiday.

 vets   Veterans Day is an annual American holiday honoring military veterans whose service has continued to keep the United States of America free. Here at ABS the elementary students learned more about our military forces and welcomed many veterans from this area.

The 10th grade Biology class is studying different biomes. They were each assigned to do a poster on an animal that lives in one of the biomes.

 al poster   The 2nd grade has recently completed a study of communities, city, state, and country. We made posters to highlight some of the things to see and do in our beautiful state of Alabama!

Third grade science students were assigned to groups who made posters featuring "Clouds" in their study of weather.

 gd-hp   One of the favorite events for Kindergarten-Sixth Grade is our annual Grandparents Day celebration when grandparents are invited to share a meal with their grandchildren.

 5th grade reads   Fifth graders had a special treat for the new kindergartners on their first day of school. They met and read to them in the new reading room of the library.

Read Across America
Kindergarten, First and Second grades
celebrated "Read Across America" and
honored the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

  Second Graders were very creative with their book reports, making posters of their favorite storybook characters.

Here’s the link to the project that the 5th graders have been working on for social studies. In teams, they worked to research their chosen colonial career and then write a paper about it. They also created a signpost similar to what the colonists would have constructed with pictures and words so that even those who couldn’t read would know what kind of business it was.

  On November 14th the ABS Drama Club presented "Princess", a one-act play starring students and faculty of the school. 

   

The 2008 Fall Festival got off to a running start Friday afternoon with the Fun Run around the neighborhood adjacent to the ABS campus.
