Athens Bible 1A runners medal at State track meet in Troy, Alabama. Andy Davidson was a two-event champion winning both the 1600 meter and the 3200 meter relay. Colby Phillips, Cliff Denton, and Brandon Fisk were the other members of the championship relay team. This is the second year in a row Athens Bible won the 3200 meter relay at State. The Athens Bible relay was about a half lap behind starting the third leg, being Colby Phillips. Colby cruised his first lap closing the gap. His second lap he turned on the burners and caught the leaders. Andy Davidson was the final leg of the relay. Andy and the Cedar Bluff runner ran full out the remaining two laps of the relay. The second lap Andy turned the final curve and ran away from the Cedar Bluff runner to win the relay championship. Andy Davidson was second in the 3200 meter 0.46 seconds behind the winner. Andy was also fourth in the 800 meter. Brandon Fisk, in addition to being on the championship 3200 meter relay, placed 3rd in the 3200 meter, 5th in the 1600 meter, and 19th in the 800 meter. Cliff Denton, in addition to being on the 3200 meter relay, was 3rd in the 1600 meter. Athens Bible finished 4th in 1A boys State. |
