Beta Club
The National Beta Club promotes character, develops leadership skills, encourages service involvement, recognizes achievement, and provides technological advantages to students in grades 5 - 12.
The National Beta Club, a student-centered organization, continually develops and nurtures individuals by providing opportunities and experiences enabling them to demonstrate the ideals of character, achievement, service and leadership in a global community.
The ABS Beta Club is composed of two clubs—the Jr. Beta Club (grades 5-9) and the Sr. Beta Club (grades 10-12).
All Betas must maintain a high B average and maintain a good conduct grade. Each club performs many service projects throughout the year. Every member must complete individual service projects as well as club service projects such as a yearly blood drive conducted at ABS.
NEWS JUST IN!!! (March 18, 2008) Beta Club Group Talent placed 2nd at the Convention with "Jammin' in the Jungle". Congratulations Senior Betas!

The spring club project for this year will be helping with the 2008 Benefit Dinner featuring Bart Starr on April 21st. There is a list on the bulletin board of your assignnment for the dinner. You are expected to be there for the entire dinner (or until the committee member dismisses you for the evening). There will be a sign-in/sign-out sheet with Mrs. Irby that night so don't forget to sign it! Since this will be the last club project of the year, failure to take part will automatically place you on probation. Plan in advance to be part of this exciting evening for ABS!!

Once again Athens Bible School participated in the WAFF 48 Holiday Can-a-thon. The final collection day was Thursday, December 6. Eight counties in North Alabama were involved in the event, including Limestone County. Donations go directly to Athens-Limestone Food and Shelter, an agency that serves Limestone County residents in need.
The Beta Club at ABS heads up the food collection each year with enthusiastic participation by all the student body.
ABS collected 3,736 cans of food and non-perishable items during the Can-a-Thon. Most cans in high school -- 12th grade, and in elementary -- 6th grade.

Students loaded food onto trucks to be taken to the Lowe's collection center.
ABS students signed in at the Athens-Limestone Food and Shelter agency and volunteered to help unload and sort the many thousands of items that were collected for those people who are in need.
Everyone did a great job! Thank you for all the effort and especially for your generosity.
